- Please visit my website at http://www.bettyalofs.com. I am the mother of 5 (4 boys and a tomboy), grandmother of 8. I have been quilting since 1989, and opened my business (Betty A's Designs) to create and sell pictorial applique patterns in 2000. My first book was released by Krause Publications in 2006, titled Quilt Your Favorite Photos, Shoot it, Sketch it, Stitch it. I participated as Artist in Residence at the Empty Spools Seminar at Asilomar, Pacific Grove in April 2007. I was honored to appear on Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson and on the PBS show America Quilts Creatively with Sue Haussman. To have been nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2003 was also a highlight of my quilting career and a great honor as well.
