Just thought I'd let you know that I am now a bona fide employee of a great little quilt shop in El Cajon, CA. I have been trudging along trying to get my life together after losing my husband, and trudging hasn't gotten me anywhere. I needed something structured, a reason to have to get up, get ready and go to work.
Luckily one of my favorite quilt shops near me was advertising for a position, and I jumped at the chance. I was hired and started last week, doing a variety of jobs. The other employees, most of whom I have known for a long time, are a delightful bunch to work with. It is a happy atmosphere, and time goes by quickly.

I have been quilting since 1989, and opened my business (Betty A's Designs) to create and sell pictorial applique patterns in 2000. My first book was released by Krause Publications in 2006, titled Quilt Your Favorite Photos, Shoot it, Sketch it, Stitch it. I participated as Artist in Residence at the Empty Spools Seminar at Asilomar, Pacific Grove in April 2007. I was honored to appear on Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson and on the PBS show America Quilts Creatively with Sue Haussman. To have been nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2003 was also a highlight of my quilting career and a great honor as well.
